Dear Parishioners,
The Feast of the Epiphany reminds us that Jesus Christ is always surprising us with His presence in our lives. We all have had moments of delight, grace and amazement that make us turn inward and thank God for the presence of His Son. The only difference is that we can be so preoccupied with mundane routines of everyday life that we fail to notice our own little epiphanies when they happen. Things like the joy of laughter of small children, the unconditional love of our spouses, and the unexpected helping hand from a friend or neighbor—they are but a few of the precious epiphanies that
each of us experiences, but often goes unappreciated.
Indeed, these are like the gifts of the Magi brought to our door, if not to our very heart, and given in grateful appreciation and with great love. As the Magi followed the star to the side of the Christ child, so we need only follow our hearts to be a Christ for others, not only in times of need, but perhaps for no reason at all.
I pray that the epiphanies of long ago may remind each of us of the many epiphanies of the present day and that we continue to express our delight with the love with which God surrounds us.
In Christ,
Fr. Michael
